About Our Minister

Rev. Steve Aschmann

Steve was born in Germany where his father was working for the United Nations after World War II. Raised in the lower Hudson Valley of  New York State, he attended Colgate-Rochester Divinity School, graduating in 1980. For 25 Years he served as a pastor for congregations in the United Church of Christ.

Steve and his wife, Denise, reside in an old Victorian home in Westfield, New York. Steve and Denis are the parents of three grown children.

Citing his favorite theologian as Episcopal Bishop John Shelby Sponge, Steve says that his faith journey has taken him through a wide variety of denominational philosophies. Recently he decided to invest himself wholeheartedly in the supportive ranks of Unitarian Universalism. The aspirations and expressions of our liberal religion are completely in concert with his goal “to extend an extravagant welcome to seekers and other members of the church alumni association”

His installation service was held at the church on Sunday November 13th , 2005.
